We Are Looking for: CLIMATE & HEALTH COMMUNICATION PROJECT MANAGER

Objectives

MSF provides healthcare to populations in many of the country’s most at risk and impacted by climate change, including West and Central Africa. The Sahel region is particularly at risk, with a significant increase in temperatures, increasingly variable rainy seasons, and increasingly severe and destructive droughts and floods, leading to growing humanitarian needs. To date, media coverage has not sufficiently reflected the impact of these changes on the region, nor local testimonies. MSF is planning a collaboration with committed artists from the West and Central Africa region to raise awareness of the health and humanitarian impacts of climate change.

 

In this context, the Climate and Health Communications Project Manager is responsible for coordinating the implementation of a large-scale artistic event and media campaign. 

 

Main responsibilities

Reporting to the Communications Director and the project steering committee, the Project Manager will be responsible for:

 

·       Coordinating all activities and contacts linked to the production and smooth running of the event and its Campaign.

·       Ensuring that the necessary implementation deadlines are met and reporting periodically on the progress of the project (budget).

·       Working closely with an external production company to produce the event and other related productions, establishing a timeline for the entire duration of the project with the main activities.

·       Act as a focal point with the production company and all other contacts external to MSF; With the collaboration of the production company, identify and contact artists and all other contacts for the event and campaign.

 

·       Manage the logistical aspects of organising the event and producing communications tools such as video clips, etc.

 

·       Manage the logistical aspects of organising songwriting workshops with young musicians in several countries in the region and take part in running the workshops.

 

·       Work closely with the communications department on the design and dissemination of the campaign.

·       Together with the communications department, oversee the implementation of the communications strategy in the region and the effective and efficient promotion of the project. Participating in the implementation of internal communication about the project within the MSF movement; acting as a link between the Steering Committee and all the players involved in the project.

 

·       Any other tasks and responsibilities deemed necessary by the Communications Director to achieve the objectives set.

 

 

Job requirements

Education

·     Postgraduate degree in a discipline such as project management, events management, management, communication, social sciences, international relations, global health or another relevant field / Or equivalent.

Competencies/ Personal Qualities

·       Excellent skills and proven experience in event project management;

·       Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, good knowledge of the media and the arts

·       Budget management skills ;

·       Ability to work effectively within limited timeframes and a proven track record of meeting deadlines

·       Willingness to work outside office hours when the project requires it and to respond quickly

·       Willingness to travel abroad, around 6 times a year.

·       You are versatile and ready to solve a wide range of challenges

·       Proven ability to work in an intercultural environment

·       Good creative spirit, good listening skills, excellent organizational and efficiency skills, independent and focused on impact and results.

·       Interest in climate and environmental considerations

Professional experience required

·       5-8 years' experience in project management, event project management, communications, social sciences in the arts, media, voluntary sector or other fields relevant to this project;

·       Good networking skills in the arts community

·       Understanding of climate, environmental, humanitarian, public health and global issues and impacts

·       Understanding of the workings of international humanitarian organisations

Languages Skills

·       Working proficiency in English and French

 

Computer Skills

·       MS Office suite (mainly MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
