This program offers students and recent graduates in Côte d’Ivoire a chance to contribute to MSF WaCA’s mission through structured internships at our Abidjan HQ. You'll work alongside experienced professionals, receive mentorship, and be part of real humanitarian projects.

We Are Looking for: EPIDEMIOLOGY INTERN

Department: Medical

Direct Manager: Head of Epidemiology

Assigned Mentor: Head of Epidemiology

Working %: 100%

Position Based in: Abidjan, HQ

Type of Contract: Fixed-Term Internship Contract under Ivorian law; (3) months Renewable

Position to be filled: As soon as possible

Your Role in the team

  •        Support epidemiological surveillance in the MSF WACA intervention zones and work on alerts in countries without MSF presence in collaboration with epidemiologists and data analysts at country level.

o   Surveillance and early detection

o   Support for in-depth investigations

o   Preparation of periodic situation reports

o   Support for the development of epidemic risk analysis by country and by period

  •        Organize periodic meetings with epidemiologists and data analysts at country level

  •        Support the use of data for decision-making (monitoring of logical frameworks and compilation at global level)

  •        Support the HIS in collecting user histories in order to refine the system

 

Job requirements

Who can apply?

  •          Final-year undergraduate or graduate students based in Côte d’Ivoire.

  •          Recent graduates (within the past year)

  •          Students based in Cote d’Ivoire.

Qualifications & Professional experience required

  •        Graduate with less than one year's experience in epidemiology (bachelor's or master's degree), statistics, medicine degree or public health with a strong interest in epidemiology and based in Côte d'Ivoire.

  •        Training in or ability to analyze and visualize medical data (dashboard development) using R, Python, Stata or power BI...)

Your Superpowers

  •         Experience in a national or international health organization is desirable

  •        Experience or basic knowledge of epidemiological surveillance, data analysis and alert or epidemic investigation.

  •        Good knowledge of health information systems

  •        Good command of IT tools for data collection, management and analysis: DHIS2, R/Python, Power BI or STATA, Kobo Collect/ODK, CommCare, etc.

  •        Experience or knowledge of epidemiological surveys

Good writing skills

Language Skills

  •        Professional level of French and English
