Position Based in: Field
Mobility: High mobility required – availability for short-notice deployments in emergency contexts across WaCA region
Type of Contract: Fixed-Term; Renewable
Position to be filled: Selected candidates will be added to the MSF WaCA Emergency Pool roster and may be contacted for deployment as operational emergency needs arise.
Objectives
To define, lead, and adapt MSF operational strategy in emergency contexts, ensuring timely, relevant, and high-quality responses aligned with MSF principles and operational priorities.
The Emergency Coordinator ensures overall leadership of emergency interventions, including strategic planning, team mobilization, access negotiation, and efficient resource management across multiple projects and contexts.
Main responsibilities
Define and lead the operational strategy in emergency contexts, ensuring alignment with MSF priorities
Conduct ongoing analysis of the political, humanitarian, and medical context to identify needs and adapt interventions
Lead and coordinate the implementation of emergency activities, ensuring coherence across projects
Ensure the appropriate planning and management of resources (human, financial, logistical, and medical)
Supervise and support the coordination team, ensuring strong leadership and effective team management
Ensure security awareness and contribute to risk analysis and access negotiations
Represent MSF with authorities, partners, and stakeholders, and ensure effective coordination
Ensure timely and accurate reporting, and contribute to advocacy and communication strategies
Job requirements
Education
University degree in a relevant field (medical, public health, social sciences, or equivalent).
A postgraduate degree in Public Health or Humanitarian Action is an asset.

Professional experience required
Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in humanitarian contexts, including emergency settings.
Significant experience in MSF or other international NGOs is required.
Previous experience in coordination roles (Project Coordinator, Medical Coordinator, or equivalent) is essential.
Experience in emergency response (conflict, epidemics, displacement, or natural disasters) is highly desirable.
