We Are Looking for: FACILITY MANAGER

Position Based in: Abidjan, HQ

Type of Contract: Fixed-Term Contract under Ivorian law – 12 months; Renewable

Position to be filled: December 1st, 2026

Missions

Reporting to the Logistics Director, the Facility Manager is responsible for defining, coordinating and overseeing all activities relating to the management of the infrastructure, offices and accommodation at WaCA ’s headquarters in Abidjan.

In this capacity, he/she ensures a safe and functional working and living environment that complies with regulatory requirements, whilst optimizing resources, controlling costs and ensuring the quality of services provided to staff.

Médecins Sans Frontières WaCA occupies a nine-story building in Abidjan, shared with another MSF entity. The organization has around 130 staff members. There is a canteen on the 8th floor.

MSF WaCA also manages five (5) flats for staff on temporary assignments.

Objectives

As a key operational partner, the Facility Manager is responsible for the management, maintenance, security and optimization of the organization’s offices and accommodation, ensuring compliance with regulations and safety standards, cost control, and suitable working and living conditions.

 

Main responsibilities

  1.      Infrastructure management :

  • Oversee all offices, sites and workspaces.

  • Ensure the smooth operation of equipment and technical installations.

  • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on infrastructure. Plan and coordinate fit-out, refurbishment or extension works.

 

2.      Management of service providers :

  • In close collaboration with the procurement team and IT department, manage maintenance and service contracts.

  • By delegation, contribute to the drafting of tender specifications and participate in selection committees.

  • Manage suppliers (security, cleaning, energy, equipment, catering, etc.).

  • Monitor service providers’ performance using key performance indicators and service levels.

 

3.      Health, Safety and Security :

  • Ensure that buildings comply with local regulations.

  • Help implement the organization’s health, safety and security policies, in accordance with international standards and Ivorian law; Monitor regulatory inspections.

  • Coordinate evacuation plans and emergency procedures.

4.      Budget management:

  • Draw up and monitor the budget in line with operations; help draw up investment plans.

  • Identify opportunities for cost optimization.

  • Produce the relevant budget reports and analyses.

 

5.      Environmental management :

  • Implement the NGO’s commitments to sustainable development.

  • Monitor energy and water consumption.

  • Develop solutions aimed at reducing the environmental footprint of the facilities. 

Job requirements

Education

Essential

  • Bachelor degree in infrastructure management, hotel management, building, civil engineering, maintenance…

  • Knowledge of the legal framework governing the safety of office buildings.

Desirable

  • Electrical qualifications

  • First aid and fire safety training

Competencies

  • High availability

  • Flexibility regarding working hours

  • Ability to manage a team and delegate tasks

  • Analytical skills and the ability to come up with new ideas; autonomy is essential

  • Excellent negotiation skills when dealing with external service providers and suppliers

  • Excellent organizational and collaborative skills.

  • Stress management, proactivity, flexibility and resourcefulness

  • Ability to work with multidisciplinary and multicultural teams, open-mindedness and a service-oriented approach.

Professional experience required

  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in a similar role in building management – essential

  • Experience in team management

  • Experience in planning and budget control

  • Knowledge of the NGO sector would be an advantage

Languages Skills

  • Working proficiency in English and French (Required)

  • A conversational level of Arabic is desirable

Computer Skills

  • Office suite (primarily MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

  • Proficiency in online communication and collaboration platforms, including Microsoft Teams, Zoom, SharePoint, etc.

  • Knowledge of ERP systems would be an advantage
