Objectives

In support to its translation activities, MSF WaCA is seeking to build a roster of ENàFR et FRàEN freelance translators with proven experience in medical translation.

Main responsibilities

Producing translations into your native language of a wide range of documents, including medical texts, while complying with MSF’s glossary, guidelines and instructions from the Translation activity Manager
Conducting relevant context and terminology research and cross-checking to ensure accuracy
Meeting agreed deadlines
Using CAT tools when requested to leverage translation memories, streamline workflows and ensure terminology consistency

Job requirements

Education

Master degree in Translation or relevant field

Professional experience required

Minimum 4 years of translation and revision experience
Proven expertise in healthcare / medical translation

Desirable:

Other MSF subject-matter expertise (humanitariran action, WATSAN, logistics/supply, finance, legal etc.)
Knowledge of the African context

Languages Skills

Native-level speaker of target language (French or English)
Professional proficiency of source language (English or French)

Computer Skills

MS Office suite (mainly MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
CAT tool use and ownership (must work with. tmx translation memories and .txt glossaries)

2. TRANSLATION TEST : Please only take one of the following test, translating into your native language.

Sputum collection using suction via endotracheal tube If possible, collect the sputum specimen early in the morning food. You should attempt retrieval of a specimen before feeding or several hours after to prevent emesis and contamination of the sample. The quality and quantity of secretion production and mucociliary clearance depend on systemic hydration. Patient hydration can boost sputum production to enable a good sample. In IPD, the patient is often less frightened if they feel able to have some control over the procedure. A stop signal could be raising an arm. Regardless of the patient’s level of consciousness, the healthcare provider should talk to the patient throughout the procedure as the sense of hearing is frequently unimpaired even in unconscious patients. To attach a specimen trap to a suction catheter, push the suction tubing onto the male adaptor of the in-line specimen trap. Ventilators should provide satisfactory gas exchange when inflating the lungs using positive pressure via an endotracheal tube or tracheostomy. A manual bag mask valve and other emergency equipment should be available to facilitate ventilation in case of issues with restarting the ventilator. After suctioning, disconnect the in-line trap from the suction tubing and catheter. To seal the container, connect the rubber tubing to the male adapter of the trap.

En situation d’urgence, les cas de malnutrition sont fréquents, surtout chez les jeunes enfants et les femmes enceintes et allaitantes. Par conséquent, il est normal de réaliser un ENR les premiers jours et d'inclure des activités de nutrition dans l'ensemble de soins. • S'il y a une prévalence importante de VIH (≥1%) au sein de la population ciblée des femmes enceintes, et si les ressources le permettent, des services de PTME devraient être offerts (par exemple la fourniture des TARV aux femmes enceintes qui connaissent leur statut ou qui sont déjà sous TARV.
