We Are Looking for: Project Coordinator – Emergency Pool

Working %: 100%

Position Based in: Field

Mobility: High mobility required – availability for short-notice deployments in emergency contexts across WaCA region

Type of Contract: Fixed-Term; Renewable             

Position to be filled: Selected candidates will be added to the MSF WaCA Emergency Pool roster and may be contacted for deployment as operational emergency needs arise.

Objectives

The Emergency Project Coordinator ensures the overall coordination, management and implementation of emergency interventions in MSF WaCA contexts. S/he guarantees an efficient, timely and high-quality response, ensuring alignment between medical, logistical, HR and financial components.

Main responsibilities 

  1. Rapid Assessments and Emergency Response

  • Participate in exploratory missions and rapid assessments

  • Define initial operational setup of emergency responses

  • Ensure rapid deployment of teams and activities

2. Project Coordination and Management

  • Coordinate all project components (medical, logistics, HR, finance)

  • Ensure effective implementation of project activities

  • Monitor progress and adapt strategy to evolving contexts

3. Team Management

  • Supervise and support multidisciplinary teams

  • Ensure clear roles, objectives and performance follow-up

  • Promote a positive working environment

 

4. Representation and Coordination

  • Represent MSF with authorities, partners and stakeholders

  • Ensure coordination with MoH and other actors

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships

5. Resource Management

  • Oversee financial, HR and logistical resources

  • Ensure compliance with MSF procedures

  • Contribute to budget planning and monitoring

 

6. Monitoring, Quality and Reporting

  • Monitor project indicators and performance

  • Ensure quality and accountability of interventions

  • Produce regular operational reports

7. Emergency Preparedness and Support

  •  Contribute to emergency preparedness strategies in WaCA

  • Support other missions when required (gap filling)

  • Ensure flexibility and rapid deployment

Job requirements

Education

University degree in relevant field (Medicine, Public Health, Management or equivalent)

Competencies

Technical Competencies

  • Project management in humanitarian contexts

  • Emergency response management

  • Financial and HR management

  • Context analysis and security awareness

  • Knowledge of MSF operations

Behavioral Competencies

  • Strong leadership and decision-making

  • Strategic and analytical thinking

Professional experience required

  • Minimum 2–3 years in humanitarian field

  • Experience in project coordination or management

  • Experience in emergency contexts required

  • Previous MSF experience is an asset

Languages Skills

Working proficiency in English and French

 

Computer Skills

MS Office suite (mainly MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
